To order food delivery in Korea, open an app like Baemin or Coupang Eats, pick a restaurant, and confirm your address. In the delivery note field, type 문 앞에 두고 벨 눌러주세요 (mun ape du-go bel nulleojuseyo), "Please leave it at the door and ring the bell" — the line drivers see most often.

  • Add 문 앞에 두고 벨 눌러주세요 (mun ape du-go bel nulleojuseyo) when you want contactless drop-off.
  • Say 배달 왔어요? (baedal wasseoyo?) on the phone when the driver calls.
  • Ask 몇 분 걸려요? (myeot bun geollyeoyo?) to check how long delivery will take.
  • Request 수저도 넣어 주세요 (sujeodo neoeo juseyo), "Please include utensils," if the app has a notes box.

What do you write in the delivery note?

Korean delivery apps have a free-text box for 요청사항 (yocheongsahang, special requests). Keep it short — one polite sentence beats a paragraph.

Situation Write this
Leave at door 문 앞에 두고 벨 눌러주세요 (mun ape du-go bel nulleojuseyo)
Call on arrival 도착하면 전화해 주세요 (dochakhamyeon jeonhwahae juseyo)
Include utensils 수저도 넣어 주세요 (sujeodo neoeo juseyo)
Drive safely 조심히 안전하게 오세요 (josimhi anjeonhage oseyo)

벨 눌러주세요 (bel nulleojuseyo) means "please ring the bell" — apartment buildings in Seoul often have no doorbell sound in the hallway, so drivers call instead.

What happens when the driver calls?

Drivers usually phone when they cannot find your unit or when you ordered to a 배달존 (baedaljon, delivery zone) at a park or riverside spot.

You: 네, 지금 내려갈게요. — ne, jigeum naeryeogalgeyo. — "Yes, I'll come down now."
Them: 1층 로비 앞에 두었어요. — ilcheung robi ape dueosseoyo. — "I left it in front of the first-floor lobby."
You: 감사합니다. — gamsahamnida. — "Thank you."

내려갈게요 (naeryeogalgeyo) tells the driver you are on your way down — say it even if you are already in the elevator.

How do you order delivery without a fixed address?

At Han River parks, set the pin to the nearest delivery zone and meet the driver at the listed spot. Tell friends 한강에서 치킨 배달시킬까요? (hangangeseo chikin baedalsikilkayo?), "Shall we order chicken delivery at the Han River?"

Watch for 최소 주문 금액 (choeso jumun geumaek, minimum order amount) on the checkout screen — add a side dish if your cart is short.

If you are still building basic order phrases for eating out, the post on ordering at a Korean restaurant covers the in-person version of the same survival patterns.
